When: Saturday, July 30 from 9:30 AM-2 PM
Where: Winterhaven Park, Ponce Inlet
We need volunteers to help us introduce surfing to the next generation of lil groms! No experience needed, just a love of the ocean. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Each September, volunteers around the WORLD work together to clean beaches, rivers and other waterways. Volunteers document every piece of trash they find on standardized trash tally data cards, which will be provided to you. This information is used by the Ocean Conservancy to produce the world’s only state-by-state, country-by-country Marine Debris Index. By understanding sources of marine debris, we can work together to solve this problem.
Join us on September 17th at North Beach Community Park. More details to follow soon!
Free for children ages 17 and under who can swim (parent or guardian must stay for entire time) We’ll have cool giveaways and snacks on hand, come out and support your local Surfrider and buy a t-shirt!
Sign-up will begin at 10am. At 10:30am we’ll have a short surfing lesson and then all go surfing, boards provided by the Volusia County Junior Lifeguards. We’ll take a break around noon, have some snacks and learn some cool stuff about your beach! Chad Truxall of the Marine Discovery Center will talk about plants and animals in the ocean and estuaries surrounding Ponce Inlet. Then we’ll hit the waves again after we give away some swag! Membership not required. RSVP by email encouraged but not required.
Also, we can always use a few more volunteers to accompany kids in the water.
