Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday for Hands Across the Sand and our beach clean up and to everyone who helped organize the event. Thank you also to Starbucks for donating coffee and reusable coffee cups and Krispy Kreme Daytona Beach for donating donuts. We were joined by Women in Chiropractic, Grostic Club and SABCA in addition to several other volunteers. We had just over 50 people join us in total for the clean up (where we collected over 2,000 cigarette butts from the beach!) and to say NO! to offshore drilling and seismic testing by joining hands at noon. Our event made the front page of Sunday’s Daytona Beach News Journal and they posted a video to their website from the event and their interview with our Chair, Ryan.
To celebrate International Surfing Day (a bit early), we are holding a fundraiser party! Wear your finest black tie attire with your favorite baggies or swim suit and join us for a few beverages. There will be a best dressed contest with prizes…start planning your outfit!
$10 donation at the door, includes 2 drink tickets (Thanks to The Shores Festhaus for donating a pony keg and Barefoot Wine for donating wine!)
Food and additional drinks available for purchase from Nichol’s Surf Cafe, our lovely hosts.
Support your local Surfrider Foundation – Volusia/Flagler Chapter and have fun doing so!
Money raised will be used to further our efforts in the community such as, the 9th Annual EcoSurf Clinic to be held in Ponce Inlet later this year.
